For a beautiful foundation application, the Cashmere Kabuki Brush is the perfect tool. Tap a tiny amount of foundation into the lid and work into the bristles using a circular motion with the brush. Once the brush is evenly loaded, meaning no area of bristles seems to have more powder then any other area, apply to the skin in gentle circular motions. You want to polish the skin like a piece of fine crystal, not scour it like a dirty pan. LaurEss mineral foundation is build-able so it is best to apply a light layer and add another coat if you desire more coverage. For a heavier foundation application, use the Flawless Flat Top Brush, using the same gentle polishing action. Again, start with a light layer and add more as needed.
For problem areas that may require more coverage, use the Perfect Disguise Concealer Brush to apply a layer of Optimal Coverage Concealer. Tap a small amount of powder into the lid and work into the concealer brush using a sweeping motion. Once the brush is evenly loaded, gently press onto problem areas or sweep across larger areas, such as under eyes or around the nose. Optimal Coverage Concealer can be used before or after foundation or both for those hard to cover areas. Another option is to blend a tiny bit of moisturizer or water with concealer in the palm of your hand gently sweep concealer brush through the liquid and dab or sweep onto areas to create a heavier coverage. Be sure to gently polish over these areas with a foundation brush to ensure perfect blending.
To apply, tap a small amount of powder into the lid and work into the Perfection Powder Brush using a circular motion. Gently sweep onto the face to create a smooth even canvas or an airbrushed finish.
To apply mineral based blushes, tap a small amount of powder into the lid, using the Accentuating Blush Brush, work powder into the bristles using a sweeping, back and forth motion. Once the brush is evenly loaded, sweep gently onto the cheekbone. For a perfectly placed application, hold the brush so that the longest bristles just touch the cheekbone while the shortest bristles sweep onto the hollow under the cheekbone. Use the Perfection Powder Brush to apply a light layer of blush to the apples of the cheeks for a healthy glow.
There are as many application methods for Silk Lights as there are uses. Work powder into the bristles of whichever brush you choose. Use the Accentuating Blush Brush to highlight cheeks. Use any of the eye brushes to add Silk Lights to smaller areas such as eyes or lips. Use the Perfection Powder Brush to sweep color onto the décolletage or shoulders. These shimmering powders are very versatile and beautiful.
When using a loose powder for eye color or eyeliner, it is essential to really work the powder into the bristles, especially for lining. This will help eliminate specks of powder falling on to the cheeks. Tap a small amount of powder into the lid of the jar and work the brush around in a circular and sweeping motion until the powder is really stuck to the bristles. Give the brush a light tap before applying, to remove excess powder. For a sheer wash of color or a soft natural look, apply the powders dry. For more drama, apply with a damp brush. This brings out the undertones of the colors and makes them gleam. Wet pigments will also adhere for a very long time. Another technique for adding a little drama is to apply the colors dry then dampen your brush slightly and sweep it over the already applied powders. This is a similar effect to applying them wet, but less dramatic. This is the perfect way to change a day look into night, without adding more makeup.
All blush colors may be used on the eyes and eye colors can be used as blush. Many of the colors can be used with a gloss or balm to make a complementing lip color. However, some of the pigments we use are not permitted by the FDA to be used in products that are ingested, thus in lip products. Bear in mind, these are not dangerous chemicals, simply pigments that have not been approved for consumption. LaurEss is careful to include a color specific ingredient list on all shipping invoices as well as on the product pages on the website. When using a color for the lips, please check the specific ingredients and avoid using products containing the following ingredients: Chromium Oxide Greens, Ferric Ferrocyanide (Iron Blue), and Ultramarines. All LaurEss powders can also be used in combination with nail polish to create a unique nail color. This can be accomplished either by adding the pigment to a clear polish directly or by brushing the color onto the nails then coating with polish.
